Jesus The Way Daily (“we,” “us,” “our”) operates the website https://jesusthewaydaily.com. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the rights you have over it.

We operate from Kenya and comply with the Kenya Data Protection Act, 2019. Because our readers come from around the world, this policy also sets out the additional rights available to visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and California.

We have written this in plain language on purpose. If anything here is unclear, email us and we will explain it.

We are the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. All privacy enquiries go to the email address above, and we aim to respond within seven days and in any case within the timeframes set by applicable law.

a. Information we collect

Collected automatically when you visit

• IP address (truncated where our analytics configuration supports it)
• Browser type and version
• Device type, operating system, and screen size
• Pages you visit and time spent on them
• Date and time of your visit
• The website or search engine that referred you
• General location at country or city level, derived from your IP address

Information you give us

• Newsletter signup — your email address, and your first name if you provide it
• Contact form and email — your name, email address, and the content of your message
• Prayer requests — whatever you choose to write, plus your name and email if you supply them
• Comments — your name, email address, comment text, and IP address
• Orders for digital products — your name, email address, billing details, and order history
• Donations — your name, email address, and the amount given, as recorded by our payment provider

We never ask for information we do not need, and we do not buy or rent personal data from third parties.

Why we process your data, and our legal basis

Both Kenyan and European law require us to have a lawful basis for every use of your data. Here is ours:

Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time and it is as easy to withdraw as it was to give. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that already took place.

b. Cookies and similar technologies

Cookies are small files stored on your device. We use them in four categories:

• Strictly necessary — required for the site to function, including your cookie preferences and shopping cart. These are always active and do not require consent.
• Statistics — help us understand how the site is used.
• Marketing and advertising — used to serve advertising, including personalised advertising.
• Preferences — remember settings such as your chosen options on the site.

We do not set statistics, marketing, or preference cookies until you consent to them. When you first arrive, our consent banner lets you accept all, deny all, or choose category by category. All non-essential categories are switched off by default.

You can change or withdraw your choices at any time by clicking the privacy preferences link in our footer, which reopens the consent options.

You can also block or delete cookies through your browser settings, though doing so may affect how parts of the site work.

c. Advertising

We display advertising to fund the site. This section contains the disclosures Google requires of its publishers.

(i). Google AdSense

We use Google AdSense to display advertisements.

• Third party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user’s prior visits to your website or other websites.
• Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to your users based on their visit to your sites and/or other sites on the Internet.
• Users may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google’s Ads Settings.

(iI). Other advertising vendors

Because we have not disabled third-party ad serving, cookies belonging to other third-party vendors and ad networks may also be used to serve advertising on this site. Those vendors set their own cookies under their own privacy policies.

Many of these vendors let you opt out of the use of cookies for personalised advertising. You can opt out of a number of them in one place at www.aboutads.info/choices, and through the Your Online Choices portal for European users.

Opting out of personalised advertising does not stop you seeing ads. It means the ads you see will not be tailored to your browsing history.

(III). Consent in the EEA, the UK, and Switzerland

If you visit from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, we ask for your consent before any advertising or analytics cookies are set, and before advertising tags are loaded. We do this through a consent management platform, and we keep a record of the choices presented and the consent given. You can revisit and change those choices at any time from our footer.

D. Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand how readers find and use the site — which pages are read, how long people stay, and which content is most helpful. Analytics cookies load only after you consent.

Google Analytics processes this data on our behalf under a data processing agreement. You can prevent Google Analytics from collecting your data across all websites using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

E. Prayer requests

Prayer requests are the most personal thing readers share with us, so we treat them separately and carefully.

What we do with them. Prayer requests are read and prayed over. That is their purpose.

Sensitive personal data. A prayer request often contains information about your health, your family, your finances, or your faith. Under the Kenya Data Protection Act this is “sensitive personal data,” and under the GDPR it is “special category” data. Both require stronger protection than ordinary personal data. By submitting a prayer request, you give your explicit consent for us to receive and process that content for the purpose of prayer.

We will never publish your prayer request, or any identifying part of it, in a post, email, video, or on social media, unless you have given us separate written permission to do so.

Anonymity. You do not have to give your name or email address to submit a prayer request. If you leave those fields blank, we simply cannot reply.

Who sees them. Prayer requests are seen only by the person or people who operate this ministry. We do not share them with advertisers, partners, or any third party, and we do not add prayer request submissions to our mailing list unless you separately subscribed.

How long we keep them. Prayer requests are deleted within 12 months of receipt. You can ask us to delete yours sooner at any time by emailing us, and we will do so without asking why.

F. Affiliate links and sponsored content

Some pages on this site contain affiliate links, including links through the Amazon Associates Programme. If you buy something through one of those links, we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you.

Affiliate links work by placing a cookie or appending a tracking parameter that tells the merchant we referred you. This lets the merchant see that a purchase came from this site. We never see your payment details.

Affiliate relationships never change what we recommend or what we write.

G. Who we share your data with

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with the service providers we need to run the site, each of which processes data under its own privacy policy:

We may also disclose personal data where we are legally required to, for example in response to a lawful request from a court or public authority.

H. Transfers of data outside Kenya

Almost all of the providers listed above store and process data outside Kenya, mainly in the United States and Europe. This means your personal data is transferred out of Kenya when you use this site.

Sections 48 to 50 of the Kenya Data Protection Act permit such transfers where there are appropriate safeguards in place, or where you have consented after being informed of the possible risks. We rely on the contractual data protection terms offered by each provider, together with your consent to non-essential processing given through our cookie banner and our forms.

For visitors in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom, data may also be transferred to countries outside those areas. Where that happens, our providers rely on the safeguards required by Chapter V of the GDPR, which means the provider is either certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or the transfer is covered by the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.

Wherever you are, you can ask us to help with your data.

Under the Kenya Data Protection Act

If you are in Kenya, section 26 of the Act gives you the right:

• to be informed of the use to which your personal data is to be put
• to access your personal data in our custody
• to object to the processing of all or part of your personal data
• to correction of false or misleading data
• to deletion of false or misleading data about you

You also have the right to data portability under section 38, and the right to withdraw consent you have given.

Additional rights in the EEA and the UK

If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you additionally have the right to:

• Erasure — have your data deleted, where no legal obligation requires us to keep it
• Restriction — have us pause processing while a dispute is resolved
• Objection to direct marketing — at any time, without giving a reason
• Withdraw consent — withdraw any consent you have given, at any time
• Not be subject to automated decision-making — as described below

If you are in California

You have the right to know what personal information is collected, to request deletion, to correct inaccurate information, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell personal information for money. We will not discriminate against you for making a request.

How to exercise any of these

Email us at jesusthewaydaily43@gmail.com. We will respond within seven days where Kenyan law applies and within one month where the GDPR applies. We may ask you to confirm your identity first, so that we are not handing your data to someone else. Exercising these rights is free.

k. Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, please tell us first — we would rather fix it directly.

l. Children’s privacy

This site is written for adults and is not directed at children.

Under the Kenya Data Protection Act, a child is anyone under the age of 18, and processing a child’s personal data requires verifiable consent from a parent or guardian. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you are under 18, please do not submit your email address, a prayer request, a comment, or any other personal information without the consent of a parent or guardian.

For visitors elsewhere, we do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 16 in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom, or under 13 in the United States.

If you believe a child has given us personal data, email us and we will delete it promptly.

m. Security

We protect the site with HTTPS encryption across all pages, keep our software and plugins updated, restrict administrative access, and use reputable providers who maintain their own security programmes.

No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a data breach occurs that presents a real risk of harm, we will notify the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner within 72 hours of becoming aware of it and inform affected users where the law requires it.

n. Automated decision-making

We do not make decisions about you based solely on automated processing, and we do not carry out profiling that produces legal effects for you. Advertising personalisation is carried out by our advertising partners as described above, and you can opt out of it.

o. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when our practices change or when the law changes. The “last updated” date at the top will always reflect the current version.

If we make a change that materially affects how we use your data, we will make that clear on the site, and where we rely on your consent we will ask for it again.
